Minot State University is seeking candidates for the Assistant Women's Volleyball Coach position.
Minot State University is a proud member of NCAA DII and the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
Under the direct supervision of the Head Volleyball Coach, the Assistant Coach has the responsibility of carrying out all duties assigned by the Head Volleyball Coach as they relate to the administration of the sport and to always work in the best interest of the program, the Athletic Department, and the University.
Position Description & Details Coaching Responsibilities 1.
Assist in development of a competitive women’s volleyball program that will represent the institution and community in a positive manner.
2.
Work with Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance and Student Life to ensure all players meet applicable eligibility requirements and prepare all necessary forms on a timely basis.
3.
Assist in development of practice and competition schedule.
4.
Assist in conducting productive and meaningful practice sessions.
5.
Assist in making travel arrangements for team and recruiting.
6.
Conduct fundraising activities to supplement program budget.
7.
Conduct and direct instructional camps for area youth.
8.
Work with Assistant Director of Athletics for Strategic Communications on providing program information and statistics to media and fans via press releases, media guides, game programs and web site.
9.
Assist in development of recruitment plan and actively recruit student athletes.
10.
Assist in development of and actively participate in a plan to enhance public relations for the volleyball program.
11.
Track academic progress of student-athletes within the program.
12.
Establish and maintain an ethical and moral code of behavior and living that is expected of all players and staff members within the program.
13.
Develop practice schedules and teach the fundamental skills of the game.
14.
Follow all NCAA, conference and institutional policies.
15.
Actively participate in campus committees and forums.
16.
Support the philosophy and mission of the department and institution.
17.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements Education: Bachelor’s Degree, required.
Master’s Degree, preferred.
Experience: Coaching, recruiting Other Special Requirements: Knowledge, skills and abilities preferred to perform duties and responsibilities described above: This position is best filled by an individual with an undergraduate degree, Master’s preferred.
Significant coaching experience with a preference of prior experience at the coordinator level in either a professional or university environment.
Ability to identify and recruit outstanding student-athletes is required.
Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
A thorough understanding of, and experience with, NCAA and Conference rules and regulations is required.
Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate University coaches and athletes is critical; organizational, budget and management skills are imperative.
The ability to manage multiple tasks is essential.
Knowledge of related computer applications is important.
A valid driver’s license is required for travel.
This position has non-standard hours and requires the ability to travel with a substantial time commitment during the fall and the spring.
