Job Summary: The Student Life Coordinator at Williston State College will play a crucial role in enhancing the overall student experience by overseeing and coordinating various aspects of campus life.
The primary purpose of this position is to create a dynamic and inclusive environment that fosters personal development, social engagement, and a sense of community among students.
The Student Life Coordinator is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing a diverse range of programs and activities, including social events, leadership development initiatives, and community service projects.
Responsibilities: Student Life Coordination • Develop, implement, and oversee a comprehensive student life program that fosters a vibrant and inclusive campus community.
• Collaborate with student organizations to plan and execute engaging events, activities, and programs.
• Promote a positive campus culture that encourages student involvement and a sense of belonging.
• Advise and mentor student leaders to enhance their leadership skills and contribute to a positive campus environment.
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion • Design, implement, and assess programs and initiatives that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion on campus.
• Collaborate with campus stakeholders to develop and maintain an inclusive campus environment.
• Provide training and workshops on diversity, cultural competence, and inclusion for students, faculty, and staff.
• Stay informed about best practices in DEI and incorporate them into campus initiatives.
• Create and maintain partnerships with community organizations to support DEI efforts.
Student Advocacy and Support • Serve as a resource for students on issues related to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
• Advocate for the needs and concerns of underrepresented student populations.
• Connect students with appropriate resources for academic, personal, and social support.
• Address and resolve concerns related to discrimination and bias incidents on campus.
• Foster a climate where students feel comfortable expressing their opinions and concerns.
Event Planning • Coordinate and execute events that celebrate diversity and cultural awareness.
• Plan and organize educational workshops, seminars, and guest speaker events.
• Collaborate with campus departments to integrate DEI themes into existing events and programs.
• Manage logistics, budgeting, and promotion for events to ensure successful implementation.
Qualifications: • Associate’s degree or related work experience in event planning.
• Good working knowledge of MS Office Suite and common office equipment (fax, copier, scanner, telephone, etc.
), • Excellent interpersonal and written communications skills • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relations with a variety of people (coworkers, business clients, community agencies, and the public) • Strong organizational skills and prioritization abilities with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines • Ability to show flexibility in response to change and adapt to and accommodate new methods and procedures • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks • Enjoys and thrives in a highly visible and active working environment and demonstrates a positive attitude to the public Status: Full-time (12-month contract) Non-Exempt Salary: $40,000-$45,000 based on experience plus excellent benefit package Benefits: Fully paid family or single health insurance, life insurance, annual and sick leave, employee tuition waiver, spouse/dependent tuition discount, retirement, etc.
