*Dispatcher – Northwest Dakota Public Transit Job Summary* *Purpose* This position is responsible for the direction of transportation services at Northwest Dakota Public Transit in a curb-to-curb transportation program.
*Reports To* The Dispatcher will report to the Executive Director or other designated supervisor of NWDPT.
*Job Overview* The Dispatcher serves as a front-line supervisor, oversees the drivers, become a driver when needed, and dispatches the system’s vehicles and provides a communication link to agency drivers.
*Responsibilities and Duties* This is a full-time, flexible role, Monday-Friday, hours vary from 6:00 AM to 5:30 PM.
* Promotes an organizational culture that embraces the values of respect, care, support, effective, communication, teamwork, collaboration, accountability, and responsibility; and works with all staff to create and maintain a workplace environment reflective of such values * Duties may include using two-way radio, telephone and/or computer to transmit assignments, substitute driver for transit operations (operate and train on all vehicles), and compile daily, monthly, and quarterly operating statistics.
Provides direction to and maintains two-way communications with all operator’s vehicle monitoring system performance and making scheduling adjustments where necessary to maximize on-time performance, minimize customer wait times for on-call or will-call services, and minimize service disruptions as a result of vehicle/operator availability, and/or emergency situations.
* Projects a positive image to the public and provides exceptional customer service skills, which exhibit patience and consideration.
Represent the agency to client base and the general public on an ongoing basis.
Follows NWDPT policies and procedures.
This position reports directly to the NWDPT Executive Director or acting supervisor.
* Other duties as assigned by your supervisors which may include: janitorial, office work, dispatching, driving vehicles, and various functions for operation of our transit system.
* Strong computer and IT skills, use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Windows, Power Point, Outlook, PC, tablets, and able to operate the dispatching/scheduling software.
* Additional responsibilities may be assigned as appropriate, this summary is not considered to encompass all responsibilities *Qualifications* * Ability to work independently and with a variety of individuals.
Self-motivated and strong customer skills.
Previous passenger transportation experience, training and/or filed supervision experience preferred but not required.
Excellent safety, attendance and service record.
* Strong knowledge of Williston area.
Ability to read, write and speak English clearly.
Detail oriented, accurate and organized.
* High School diploma or equivalent.
Must possess a valid ND Drivers license and have clean driving record.
Strong background in data entry, Windows programs, and advanced computer skills.
* Ability to communicate effectively, both written and orally, with a variety of individuals including co-workers, supervisors, callers, agencies, government agencies, riders and the public.
