Position Description: Performs a variety of accounting and technical work of moderate complexity, requiring the exercise of some independent judgment.
Supervision Received: Finance DirectorSupervision Exercised: NoneFLSA Status: Non-ExemptEssential Job Functions: Assists with recording and/or coding of receipts and collects related documentation by working closely with city departments.
Assists with processing of accounting and financial documents and transactions in compliance with all applicable rules, regulations and procedures.
Assists with maintaining, reconciling and balancing various accounts, records and ledgers and/or reviews reconciliations prepared by others, verifies daily entries in the general ledger, investigates inconsistencies and proposes appropriate adjustments.
Prepares monthly reconciliation of the city’s bank accounts as directed.
Monitors miscellaneous accounts in the accounts receivable system.
Assists with compiling, preparing and/or generating financial reports and statements for distribution to internal and external users.
Assists with the maintenance of centralized files of externally funded programs and other grant activities.
Maintains financial records as well as the associated filing systems.
Assists with the management of a variety of fiscal and accounting functions pertaining to areas such as general accounting and financial reporting.
Assists the Special Assessments Clerk, including responding to special assessment requests and inquiries; calculating special assessment prepayments; researching special assessment issues; adjusting assessments and legal descriptions as directed; and assists with completion of annual certification of special assessments to the county.
Assists with preparation of the annual budget, in coordination with other personnel as assigned.
Assists with the collection and reviewal of 1099 federal and state tax filing forms; Interprets regulations and assists with the preparation of the annual 1099 federal and state tax filing forms.
Assists with the preparation of audit schedules and other reports, as assigned.
Conducts accounting studies and special projects and prepares reports of the results, as assigned.
Researches discrepancies of financial information and/or documentation for purposes of reaching resolutions, ensuring accuracy and adhering to procedures in collaboration with staff.
Responds to requests from city personnel for information and assistance; provides advice and accounting guidance to departmental staff and other departments in the decentralized accounting system, as directed.
Performs all work duties and activities in accordance with City policies and procedures.
Other duties as assigned and in cooperation with other accounting personnel and administration.

Minimum Experience and Education Requirements: Education: Associate degree with 2 years+ in bookkeeping or accounting-related field is preferred.
