JOB SUMMARY: The Lead teacher develops an overall curriculum on the classroom and activities for children to participate in.
Monitor Caregivers within the classroom and give guidance.
Assist director and supervisor to make sure there are orderly reports and parents are up to date.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be at least 18 years of age and hold a high school diploma (or equivalent).
Experience in care center preferred.
Must pass a criminal background check and complete the department-approved basic childcare course within the first three months of employment.
Must complete a minimum of thirteen hours of department-approved training related to childcare yearly.
Must possess maturity, good judgment, and like working with children.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintain a safe, healthy, and educational environment.
Adapting daily routines to meet the interests and needs of the individual child and the group.
Maintaining and scheduling weekly and monthly activities.
Planning and implementing activities that meet the physical, intellectual, emotional, and social needs of their students.
Attend staff meetings and staff trainings.
Ensures center, rooms, and play areas are maintained in a clean orderly, and safe condition.
Provides care/supervision, oversight and accountability for program participants in compliance with local policies, guidance, and standards.
Oversees implementation of daily food program to meet children's nutritional needs and help out around meal/snack times.
Help out with observation/evaluations and supervise caregivers.
Reports incidents of suspected child abuse to proper authorities.
Works in classrooms as a caregiver for breaks and on an as-needed basis.
Maintain confidentiality and anecdotal records.
All other duties as assigned.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: The position requires daily contact with employees, children in the childcare center, and parents of the children in the center.
Work will be performed in a child care setting environment which will be well furnished, well lit, and temperature controlled.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Required to sit, stand, and walk in sequences, often accomplishing several tasks at once.
Required to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
Be able to stand or walk for long periods of time.
Be able to step in and help out where needed.
