The Middle School Principal and the High School Principal are the immediate supervisors for this position.

JOB SUMMARYThe Assistant Middle School-High School Principal will be responsible for the supervision of teachers and staff in specific areas, programs, and educational processes for grades 7-12.
The Assistant Principal will assist the Middle School Principal and the High School Principal in providing in-service and technical assistance to support the improvement of instruction at the New Town Middle School and the New Town High School.
The work involves the development of staff in positive action, thinking skills teaching, formative/collaborative supervision, and technology in the classroom.
Orientation of all newly hired teachers and staff under his/her supervision is expected.
JOB ACCOUNTABILITYThe Assistant Middle School-High School Principal will be responsible for the supervision of teachers and staff in the areas identified by the Middle School Principal and High School Principal.
The Assistant Middle School-High School Principal is responsible for completing written evaluations for all staff under his/her supervision in accordance with school district policy.
Evaluation responsibilities for assigned staff include offering recommendations to the Middle School Principal and the High School Principal for promotion, dismissal, or reduction in force.
The Assistant Middle School-High School Principal shall be responsible for ensuring compliance with all school district, state and federal policies, rules, and regulations that are required of the different programs under his/her supervision.
The Assistant Middle School-High School Principal will assist the Middle School Principal and the High School Principal with maintaining school improvement accreditation and seek means to arrive at and maintain Accredited with Commendation.
DUTIES AND TASKSThe duties and tasks of the ASSISTNAT MIDDLE SCHOOL-HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPAL include, but are not limited to: 1.
Maintain a professional responsibility to the Middle School Principal, the High School Principal and the Superintendent for all organization, administration, and supervision of the Middle School and High School2.
Shall serve as the Special Services Coordinator: Special Education, Speech, and Resource Room3.
Shall serve as the Discipline Program Facilitator4.
Shall serve as the Administrative Designee for all Individual Education Plan (I.

P.
) meetings and attend all I.

P.
meetings5.
Shall supervise the Positive Behavior Support Team (PBS) and Building Level Support Team (BLST) 6.
Shall attend all Board meetings and present the monthly Middle School Principal and High School Principal reports if the principal is absent.

Shall supervise, appraise, and evaluate the instructional staff and classified staff based upon effective instruction for higher achievement principles.
A written evaluation of each teacher must be completed by December 15th and March 15th for all district teachers.
Classified staff must be evaluated annually by May 15th.
Teacher evaluation reports must be based upon formal observations of the teachers while they are teaching students in class.
A follow-up with the teacher must be made within two days after the classroom observation.
If there is a concern with the performance of a teacher or classified staff member, the Middle School Principal and the High School Principal must be informed to plan further action.

Shall assist the Middle School Principal and the High School Principal in administering the school in conformity with State law and the rules and regulations of the Department of Public Instruction and the Three Affiliated Tribes20.
Shall protect students in his/her charge by seeing to the development and enforcement of rules of safe conduct in the building and on buses21.
Shall work cooperatively with the teaching staff in a collaborative manner to improve instruction22.
Shall assist with the direct supervision of extra-curricular activities23.
Shall uphold the schools philosophy and educational objectives24.
Shall maintain complete records and reports as may be requested by the Department of Public Instruction and the Three Affiliated Tribes25.
