GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
A Resident Assistant (RA) is a Minot State student employed by the Residence Life Office (RLO) to develop community, assist with campus safety and security, and assist with administrative tasks.
The position requires the individual to be a leader among peers, demonstrating good judgement, people skills, and initiative.
The RA position is a 10-month position beginning with Staff Training before the fall semester and ends the Sunday after Spring Graduation.
The weekly time commitment will vary as the responsibilities are influenced by the tasks associated with the time of year and the behaviors of students living on campus but is estimated to 8 hours per week.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: · Position will average up to 8 hours a week of duty · To be generally available in your hall for resident who need assistance on a day to day basis · Create an environment of community, an atmosphere of courtesy, consideration, and unity among members living on the floor · Serve as a positive role model for residents on the floor, in the building, on and off campus · Facilitate opening and closing floor meeting as well as any other floor meetings as necessary · Become personally acquainted with the residents as soon as possible · Display and maintain a positive and professional attitude while working and interacting with residents Preferred Qualifications REQUIREMENTS: · Maintain a minimum cumulative and semester grade point average of 2.

Exceptions to this can be appealed through a process outlined by the director.
· Must be enrolled as a degree-seeking student at Minot State University.
Full-time credits are required unless approved with the Residence Life Coordinator (RLC).
· May not carry more than 18 credit hours per semester, unless approved by the RLC.
· In order to be effective in the RA position, as well as their studies, employment and extracurriculars outside of academic experiences (student teaching, practicum, clinical, etc.
) must receive approval by the RLC prior to the semester they occur and will be subject to periodic review in relation to job performance.
· Attend Fall and Spring training sessions, staff meetings, one-on-ones, staff/professional development, and other events as assigned.
o Fall Training begins August 12th o Spring Training begins January 8th o Hall Staff plan to stay on campus until the Friday after finals week in December and the Saturday after graduation in May Applicant Materials Required Please upload a document containing the following items: · Any time commitments you anticipate in the coming year and the amount of time they require (clubs, other jobs, internships, student teaching, volunteer activities, etc.

RA Presentation Guidelines: · You are free to choose the method of your presentation.
We want you to express yourself in the way you find most fitting to your strengths.
All presentations that clearly display and fulfill the requirements will be accepted.
The interview process will take about 25 min.
The presentation should be 10-15 min and the time remaining will be utilized for the committee to ask questions.
